Mea Culpa hail from Bristol, South West UK and are one of those bands that never fail to surprise, whether it be their intense live shows or progressive audio releases. Coming 2nd in Terrorizer magazine's best unsigned band poll in 2005 ("Mea Culpa are sure to be a head turning act on their way to the next level" – Terrorizer magazine) Having earned reputable slots with such big name acts as Throwdown, Pig Destroyer, Enter Shikari, Napalm Death and Sick Of It All the band have been touring the UK relentlessly since their birth in 2004 and will continue to do so throughout 2007 into 2008. Having put out two self recorded EPs via indie label Manmade records (www.manmaderecords.co.uk), Mea Culpa are about to reach fruition with their first full length release "First to Ripen" – twelve tracks of heartfelt aggression and pain, capturing the united sense of purpose that these five men share in the making of climactic, heavy soundscapes. The epic opener "Pheromones" paves the way for what is to follow; a two-minute blast of noise in "Jealousy is Pitiless", the bi-polar originality of "Prostitutes in Picture frames" and the grand finale "First to Ripen" are amongst the highlights. "First to ripen" is littered with surprises, and the listener is left wondering what could be next for Mea Culpa. With everything to play for and nothing to lose, Mea Culpa look to take 2007 in their stride, meeting every opportunity with head on force. The first tour of the year is booked for July and dates are being added day by day. Look out for this band in your town, on your radio and in your store – you heard it here first.
