YOSHI HAMPL
Biography
Born in the mountains of Tyrol, Austria, Yoshi Hampl soon decided to pursue the way of professional musician. With the Solo – debut as a one man band “Living with the Bridge” and his artrock band HCL he gains the reputation to be one of the most exciting underground – live – acts during the 1990ties in Austria. Afterward he carves, inspired from trips to Sumatra; Sinai and India - where he got intense lessons by Paramashivam on the southindian drum Thavil, from worldmusic to soundtracks for theatre, movies and dance performances. Since 2003 he was involved in the collective DUB AWARE SOUNDSYSTEM. The EP “Mega Megh/ Eastern child” reached the 20th place in the international Dj – charts. After two vinyl and one cd – releases the Soundsystem now takes a break from clubscenes. Today Yoshi Hampl re – employed with his roots in art and prog – rock. Particularly as a bassist he spit diverse productions, like TOVAH “Escapologist” with Pat Mastelotto( King Crimson) and Markus Reuter (Centrozoon) and BIDNER/MARTINEK “Trancedaemondance”… Yoshi Hampl works on the Solo- release “Touch a chordh” at the moment, which will be released late summer 2008 by Unsung records.
